Templates, Templates, and more Templates

These are all the rage now. Templates, Cheat sheets, Layered sketches, whatever they're called they are wonderful! They're not just a sketch but you can actually use them to cut out papers into shapes that you may not normally be able to. My first experience of these was a freebie given out at a crop at Scrapmommies, by Tracy Reed. So easy to use and a great way to get out of a slump or rut. Then my home site, Elemental Scraps put up a couple 12x12's as a freebie for everyone. You can see it here, but you do have to be a registered member to get it. Then today I came across this blog by Marcie Reckinger that had a couple more. I know there are more out there, it's just a matter of finding them!

Here's a LO I made with one by Victorial Feemster at Elemental scraps.

Just today's thoughts

Well fall is upon us as the leaves are changing and the nights are getting colder. I always feel like the year is just starting come fall. Hayley, my stepdaughter, goes back to her moms for school, the weather is finally comfortable and things get back into routine again. My husband and I were married in the fall and we just love it.

Daelyn surprised us the other day with a new sentence, "Yes I do." She said that when asked if she liked Tomatoes, I'm not sure if she really ment it though. LOL She's got all her 1 year molars finally and she's working on those last two bottom front teeth, the last one is poking through I saw the other day. She's such a good teether, it doesn't really bother her. Unless I'm a bad mother and don't notice! LOL

Another scrap site is down..... *sigh* ... Scrap2gether.com is done. I also went to that one and frequently did their challenges, but not anymore I guess. Crazy digiscrapping world!

So here's a LO I did today. This is the first scrapping Kit I have bought for myself! It's named "Susan" and was designed by Amanda Rockwell and Lauren Grier at Elemental Scraps. It's one of two charity kits with the donations going to one of Elemental Scraps other designers Susan Godfrey. She's having a baby with Potter's Syndrome, that is where her baby has not developed any kidneys and will not live much more than a couple of hours. You can read about her, here on her blog. I just loved this kit they made and knew it was the right thing to do, for Susan and her family. There is going to be a follow up chat on Sat Sept 2, with freebies handed out specifically for this event, so if you digiscrap, don't miss it!

My mom made Daelyn this dress last summer, because she didn't think she had any. :) I didn't put Daelyn in very many dresses as we didn't really go anywhere I thought warrented it. At four months old she looks too sweet for words. :)

It's Alive Again, but another is dead...

Elemental Scraps is back! Woo Hoo, the owner has come back from some family issues and is ready to devote some much needed time to the site. They're doing a designer call and I'm hoping a CT call sometime soon too. They finally put a limit on the daily uploads so we won't have one person putting anymore than 5 LO's up at a time. There were a few times where one person would upload about 7 or 8 layouts at once. That pushes all the rest of ours off the front meaning they don't get seen or commented on... and that sucks!

Another scrapping site that I was frequenting, called Scrapmommies is rumoured to be closing! I am shocked. There are so many of these sites out there though that I'm not surprised, I just wish it wasn't one that I go to. :)

Paint Ball, and Pizza for Supper....NOT!

Sometime earlier this week my husband got a phone call from a guy he used to go to school with, quite some time ago now. It was a nice surprise, and he was inviting him to a mutual friends Batchlor party, they were planning to go to Montana's for supper then play paintball in the evening. Thankfully Scott had started his holidays and was able to go, he was pretty happy about that. Because of his job weekend functions don't usually work for us so this was a nice get away for him.

SO figuring that the kids and I would be home alone we would treat ourselves to some take out for supper. I know from experience if you want pizza from the restaurant you have to give them enough time to heat the pizza oven and then actually bake it, so you have to allow about an hour. I phoned up to our local and only diner around 4:30 thinking this would be perfect... Pizza and a ceasar salad yummmm.... No answer.... OK so maybe she slipped across the street to the store. Phoned back about 10 min later, No answer. This doesn't look good. Well maybe she doesn't open until 5 for the supper crowd. I call back at 5:10 No answer!!!! What kind of a restaurant isn't open for supper on Saturday?? Only in A town I tell ya!

So it was hamburgers and fries for supper. It was good, but definately not the treat of take out pizza. :(

Frogs and Playstructures

Grandma Edmonds surprised us the other day with a new play structure for the girls. It's only temporary until we move and get a big wooden one but for now, we love it! Daelyn really likes the slides and it didn't take her long to figure out she could climb up them the same way she went down them. She also likes the driving wheel at the top, "Beep Beep"! Hayley's a touch to big for it now but has fun helping Daelyn play on it.

While we were outside we found this little guy in the grass. So of course I had to scrap a page about him. I remember a few years ago, Hayley was about 6 and we were at a wedding. One of my cousins kids came in to tell me Hayley was outside throwing frogs at the window!!! She just laughs at that now, as she would never think of hurting them!

Elemental Scraps and Hell's Kitchen

Alright most importantly I'm so sad for my favourite scrapping site! When I joined Elemental Scraps it was a small but growing site. They did a CT call and the place just boomed, lots of layouts uploaded, comments flying and challenges being started. Then something happened and the designers started dropping out (for various reasons), and now CT members are resigning as well. The place is so quiet now and only has, on my last check 155 active members. It's a great place with really friendly people, it just needs a boost. If you're a scrapper feel free to come check us out, there may be another CT call in the works. Hard to say but we could use one!

OK so if you didn't see Hell's Kitchen you really missed out on a good show! It's over now the season finally was on Monday and it was awesome! The main guy or host is Gordon Ramsy from Kitchen Nightmares on the food network. He is so brutally honest it's hillarious, he has no problem telling you were to go and throws out a few insults (and exploitives) along the way! When Hell's Kitchen started a few months ago I picked my choice to win, Heather. She was a 25 year old soos chef from New York. I totally had it, as she ended up winning the exuctive chef's position at the Red Rock Resort restaurant! If they run it again next year you have to watch it! And he's not bad to look at either!! :)

The Gov't can go to....

Yes you heard me, the Government can go to H.E. double hockey sticks! I'm being audited again!!! First it was for the unemployment I claimed when my husband and I moved due to his job back in 2001, five years prior! Now it's for the taxes we claimed last year. We had a larger than normal medical claim as Scott got his eyes lasered so I'm sure that's what's got them wondering. All I have to do right now is send them my receipts to prove what I claimed and hopefully all will be ok. I hesitated sending in our taxes this year for just that reason, I had a feeling. I love filing my own taxes online but really is it worth the hassel in the end? I'm not the best record keeper and get confused easily when looking back years later so it may not be the best idea. I guess we'll see how it goes!

Me and My Husband

OK so to kick off my new blog I'll show you my current favourite LO. This is me and my husband on our Cuba vacation in January 2004. I set up the camera on a table and clicked away. I was impressed with this one except for my messy hair. Cuba was beautiful and I would go back in a heartbeat. You're probably thinking why would I be wearing a sweater in the Caribbean, but it got chilly when the sun went down. We went alone and to our surprise didn't really meet anybody down there, neither of us really minded though and we enjoyed our time alone together.

I made this LO for a Maria's weekly LO challenge at Digital Freebies, which happened to be a quote challenge. I used Miss Mint's Blue Lavander kit which I just loved.

Woo Hoo A New Blog!

OK so I suck at "blogging" Be it my daughters web page or my so called scrapping blog. I thought maybe if I combined it all into one I may have more success. So I started this one called, "Forever Fefchik" For those of you who know my husband, one of his names is Fefman so to him I kind of became the "Fefchik" I'll try to post more often about our lives here in our small community and hopefully keep you updated on what's to come ahead. I'll also have pics of the girls and of course my scrappin' pages and gallery links.

Gotta run!
