Baby quilt made for online friend in Austrailia

I belong to a group of wonderful women who all happened to have baby's or their baby's were due February 2005. Alot of them were together during the pregnancy but since Daelyn was supposed to be a March baby I didn't find them until after her birth. Over the last 2 years on and off, some have fallen away and others have joined but we have really gotten to know each other. Some that live near each other have met, while the rest of us plan a get together in 2008. A few are pregnant again or have had subsequent children already and we have enjoyed watching them go through the pregnancy. With each new baby comes a baby gift from all of us. The most recent, I want to share with you was a quilt with a square made by each of us. We all sent our squares to one girl who offered to sew it together, and then sent to our mom to be in Austrailia. Here's a couple pics of it:

For interest sake, mine is the square on the bottom right hand side with the two pieces of ricrac and white bows. I stitched his name with embrodery thread, then wrote a baby boy poem and signed our names. :)

New kits, a LO, and happenings this weekend

Well Tracy Collins/Lykins aka retrodiva has kicked out a whole bunch of new kits and being on her CT I get to scrap with them. Here is the first one I did, using her "All I Need" kit:

Well Scott's gone for another week of courses. I don't mind the alone-ness until probably the third night or so, but this time grandma is coming out to visit for a couple of days. That will take the edge off for sure, lol and I won't miss Pilates either! WooHoo!!

Today we had lots of visiters. Early this afternoon Scott's Auntie M, Uncle D, and Cousin T. from home stopped by to say "hi" as they were in town for a baseball tourney. If Scott wasn't packing to go we would've gone and watched for a while. Then after he left his other Aunt B. and Cousin K. (from the other side) were in town for a baby shower, so they stopped in to say "hi" as well. It was very nice to see everyone and we appreciate them taking the time to stop. :) It's nice to be in a town where people can say they were actually "in the neighbourhood" lol

Yesterday was a nice day, a little cool but not the snow and or rain as predicted. We went for a bikeride up to the Lakeshore restaurant for lunch. We haven't been there before and it was interesting. We got there around 1pm to avoid the rush, and we needn't have worried... it was empty. We ordered and then started coloring. lol A few minutes later the cook came out and asked Scott what was usually in the Chicken Wrap he ordered as she's never made one before. :o I asked Scott if it was on the menu and he said yes! Too funny!!! He said in the end it was really good so that's a bonus! Then after supper we went for a walk and Daelyn got to play at the playground for a little bit. She's even doing the big slide these days! *eyeroll* She's a bit of a scaredy cat like her momma! LOL Today Daelyn and I went out for a walk after supper as it was beautiful out! I love this kind of weather.

OK I'm off to "youtube" more stuff on Rosie and Elizabeth! LOLOLOL

Play group and old friends.

I finally got a hold of an old coworker that I knew lived in a near by town. I had heard she had a baby just a few months ago and found out she actually had a 3 year old as well. She goes to a play group in her community where the kids can run and play, very much like the one we used to go to in Portage. I had been looking for one here but hadn't found one yet. So anyway we decided to meet at hers yesterday with the kids. It was at the park because it actually wasn't raining, and there turned out to be about 8 or so other moms there and a whole bunch of kids. There was also another girl there that I graduated with and hadn't seen in about 3 or more years. It was very nice !!! We got there around a quarter after 10 and stayed until the noon siren! LOL (ya, they do that to. hehe) Daelyn had a blast playing with the other kids in the sand box, and on the slide, so I think we'll do that again!

We came home, had lunch read some stories and then it was time for a nap. After supper Scott decided he better mow the lawn before he leaves again so Daelyn and I went for a little bike ride. We bought her one of those seats you can attach to the adult bikes and she loves it! I didn't go far, because that was actaully my first bike ride in three years. Yikes! I guess when there is no where to ride and it's not a good idea to take an infant on your bike, it gets put to the way side. lol

Did you vote?

I almost forgot, but after supper all three of us went down to the school. Daelyn was excited to go vote, "we're going voting dad!" she'd say. I'm sure that melted his heart, the politican he's becoming! So I hope everyone voted that was supposed to, as long as you voted for the right guy! lol

So my favourite dancers won Dancing with the Stars tonight. I was all for Apolo and Julianne almost from the beginning and was hoping they'd take the trophy. I voted online for them last night and I think that's what did it. HA hahahahahaha

Big Brother is starting up soon, and Hell's Kitchen! I'm so excited, my summer shows are starting!!! I know, looser get a life! But hey I'm still trying to get used to this living in civilization thing. ;)

Well I've got 2 Layouts on the go and I finished this one the other day. Everything I used was made by a friend of mine, Cindy Irvine at Elemental Scraps! Take a look.

Congrats go to these two as well, they just had a little girl!!!

New pics of Daelyn

We were playing around with the camera the other day trying to get some nice pics and I thought these were cute.

Had a great day yesterday!

I just wanted to say how much fun I had yesterday! My cousin and her husband and daughter are in town staying at her inlaws this weekend and she asked me to go garage saleing with her. We took off in the morning without the kids and hit the sales. We didn't find to much other than a few second hand books for Daelyn, and it was pretty cold, but we enjoyed it. We had lunch uptown then went home. Scott and his buddy got busy blowing insulation in our attack during the afternoon, and we're hoping that it will cut down on some of the hydro bills. We had a quick hamburger supper and then Scott, his buddy, my cousins huband went off golfing with my other cousin and his kids. (did that make sence?LOL) Us wives got together at our place and Daelyn enjoyed showing Hannah all of her toys. When they finished golfing they came back to our place and had some hot chocolate for the kids, a couple drinks for the adults and a visit. It was a great time and we had many laughs!

Today we are just hanging out inside as it's too cold for much else. Scott bought one of those bike seats for Daelyn so she can ride along with us the other day. He's taken her out a few times so far and went today before her nap. She loves it!! Hopefully it'll be nice this week and I'll take her.

No realy plans for tomorrow, our friend will head home and things will go back to normal. It's nice to have Scott around on the long weekends!

Happy Mothers Day

Happy Mothers Day again Mom and Mom-in-law! I hope all the mothers out there had a wonderful day today. Our day was pretty good. Daelyn and I went to get dad up in the morning and after a play on the bed, he took her out of the room for a minute. She came back in with an envelope and box of chocolates. She walked over to me and said "Happy mothers Day Momma" It was way to cute!!! Then all she wanted was for me to open the chocolates. She walked around after that with the box saying, "happy mothers day" hehe! For supper we ordered in Pizza and then went for ice cream! It was a nice little treat for all of us. :)

New kits I "bought"

Ok so I didn't really buy it but I kinda did. When I was hosting a challenge over at Digital Freebies, we got a bonus kit each month as a Thank You. I was to lazy to get off my butt and pick one for Feb on time and my coupon ran out. This time I remembered March's only a little late and bought this kit. Geez, is it at all like my taste? *rolling eyes*

But speaking of kits I bought... here's some I did buy last Saturday, National Scrapbooking Day. Everything was on sale, it was awesome! I could've bought a ton of stuff but thought I better stop. Each of these though, were only a couple dollars each. Not bad hey!?!

A/C Should be done today and I doing some shopping.

So I was thinking about going to Bdn today to do some shopping and basically waste the day away. But then I realized the electricians were supposed to be coming to finish the a/c, so we're home instead. They came this morning and are working on it now. I hope this gets finished today as it's been four days I've either been waiting for them to come, or they've been here.

So instead I'm shopping on ebay! hehe I've been finding some kitchen decor stuff to buy in our coffee theme. I looked a bit before but the money wasn't there to purchase it so maybe this time I will.

A cutting board to leave on the counter

Prints for the wall, these are what I found before.

Maybe a clock

I'm posting maybe a little more than usual, because where Scott is he can't check his email or anything like that, he can just surf. So this is my little way of communicating with him.

Scott:
The electrician just took off a baseboard to drill a hole in our wall for a new wire for the thermostat! Don't freak out! It'll be covered by the baseboard. LOL

A/C and other stuff...

Well the plumber came today and got our aircondition in. The only problem is that the electrician didn't show so it's not working. How evil is that?!?! He's supposed to be coming tomorrow afternoon to finish it up and hopefully we'll have a cooler house by then. It's not terrible but I know come summer we'll be thankfull.

We went to Step 2 this morning and had a good time. It was a smaller group which was nicer for us moms to visit. Daelyn surprised everyone by greeting one of the little boys by name when he walked over to her. "HI Garrett!" It was too cute! I'll have to have another baby so we can go to Step 1 the opposite weeks and have something every week. LOL ...not!

So my friend Jen asked me to go wedding dress shopping with her soon! Yippee!!! Of course Ill go! She came with me and I'm only to happy to return the favour. :)

Oh Grandma Lyn, you'll be happy to know... Daelyn no longer drinks in the living room! We started that rule shortly after we came home from your place and it's worked well. No more little spills on the new carpet. :)

We're still waiting on the second appraiser to come look at the house. They granted us the second chance and we're hoping that this one will appraise it higher then the first, and more accurate... we think anyway. Now that we have the a/c he definately should. We're paying way to much on interest and it needs to get delt with soon!

So blogger is being stupid yet again, and I can't post pics of my new LO. >:( I'll try again later.

Dr. Checkup and Chatter

So Daelyn had her 2 year Dr. checkup today, a little late but oh well. I didn't know she needed one but everyone else her age seemed to be getting one. So we went and she's fine physically and where she should be according to milestones. I'm not sure about our new Dr. and think I will likely change. He was asking where she slept, and I said in her crib. He asked if it was on her back or side. I said, side. He asked if she slept on her stomach. I said, yes sometimes and he started talking about SIDS. How are you gonna keep a 2 year old from turning over??? Besides, I think we're a little beyond that. He's an older fellow that seems to be a little on the forgetfull side. I started seeing him with my Migranes when I just needed someone, but now I know why he was available. So if we need a dr in the future I have a new one picked out that hopefully will take us. Sounds like Daelyn's done immunizations and checkups now until she's in school! Yippee!!! Oh ya and he's our neighbour across the street but he probably hasn't a clue. LOL

We should be getting our air conditioning today. They came last week to measure stuff, then came this morning to... also measure stuff, then he said they were planning on putting it in today. So hopefully they will. It hasn't been to bad yet but being south facing the living room will be getting really hot soon!

We were playing with sidwalk last night and Daelyn fell off our front step. She kinda went face into the sidewalk but her glasses protected her from getting hurt to bad. Now she just has a little scratch where her glasses hit her eyebrow. Woops.

Oh I finished a new LO yesterday. It's pretty bright for my style but I knew the picture could support it. I took it when J,J&K were out visiting and we went to play at the school yard. By the way J, your new camera rocks!

New Grass is Coming!

When we first looked at this house, there was snow all over the ground. Then when we went back three or four days later for the second look, it was all gone. We got to see just what we had for a back yard, which wasn't much. It was mostly garden, and as I'm sure you all know I'm not much of a gardener. So a few weeks ago we tilled it up and spread grass seed around. It didn't feel like very long before we had bright little blades of grass coming through! We also noticed we have some perinnials coming up in the middle of it as well. (LOL) So we'll have to do something about those. Oh and we found out the tree in the back is an apple tree, so that should be interesting!

Oh ya, and I was trying to fold towels the other day and this is what happened:

Songbird Avenue and Charity kits

One of my Digiscrapping friends Cindy, told me about this Songbird Avenue site today and I just had to share it. The Digiscrapping world is a very generous one in the way that the designers create these huge collaboration kits and sell them for a great price usually around 8-15 dollars. They take no proffit, but give it all to charities that they are wanting to support. So this site has been created to showcase a kit a month by a highlighted designer and the two co-owner designers. (I hope someone will correct me if I'm wrong) with the proceeds going to different groups/charities.

On the charity note, some of the designers at Elemental Scraps along with many others have come up with a kit called Breath of Spring and the proceeds go to our site owner who's daughter is sick and needs breathing treatments. Here's what the description says about Joedee's daughter:

This kit, Breath of Spring was created by 37 designers to benefit Emma Jo. This kit is packed full with 141 papers, 166 elements and 4 alphas in bright and fun colors perfect for so many different pages and projects. The designers poured their hearts into this project to help one of their own. 100% of the proceeds for this kit will go to the family of Emma Jo, daughter to Joedee, owner of Elemental Scraps, to help pay for the non-covered cost of respiratory therapy that Emma Jo needs to make her lungs stronger so that she can grow up healthy. For the cost of the kit you will get a kit packed full of digi goodness with over 800 MB of scrapping fun and will be helping out a child in need of this therapy. Once the amount has been raised the remainder of sales will be distributed to another charitable organization.

Joedee has done lots for our community and in fact just organized a charity kit herself for the cancer society called Pajamas4Love It is a HUGE kit, raised money and was a LOT of work for her.

New Desktop calendar

Most of you know, I make my own desktop picture by digiscrapping a calendar. It's a great way to keep on top of family activities, not that we have a lot right now but still. LOL I like to keep at my fingertips Scott's days off and or days away on courses. As well as our step 2 classes and other important dates. So here's what I look at this month.

Don't ya just love those little buggy stickers? My friend made them in a kit she's selling at ELemental Scraps called Leah loves Orange. And the Clothesline is so fun, that is from Joanne Brisbois of Rutabaga Designs also at ES. Check them out!
