We ... er... She did it!!!

She was not having a good time brushing her hair this morning and I just thought it was time. I realized it was me that was putting this off and she was ready. So I made the phone call, half hoping they wouldn't have time but half hoping they did.... and they did. So we packed little brother up, and went uptown. Dad didn't know, big sister didn't know. Oh and of course we took Ducky for moral support.

I almost forgot to say, that the hair is long enough we're going to send the pony tail to Locks Of Love for a little boy or girl who needs it, to have a wig. =D
Have a look:

Showing off some shiny silvers too! :)

Wordless Wednesday of the outdoors type

If you know me, you know I'm not really the outdoorsy type... but, sometimes I get the urge and the other day dad was working on the tree house so we took out a blanket and sat down for some sun... and photos of course. :)

Checking out grass for the first time. :)

Going, going.... gone

Daelyn hardly ever fell asleep anywhere other then her bed or her car seat, and never in the highchair. SO needless to say Mack doing this tonight was a bit of a surprise. LOL

Something has to change, I need organization

I never really thought of myself as organized, and I'm sure my mother would agree... but the absolute mess of my 5 year olds room is killing me. How does one deal with it? I don't think I can fathom cleaning it every day even if it is only a bit each day. I tried that..... it didn't work. We really need to get rid of a ton of stuff but when everything is "important" it's hard to get her to purge. Every time she goes away without me, which isn't often I have to slip in there and get rid of papers and garbage so she doesn't see. Terrible isn't it? Or is that normal? She has book shelves that don't hold books, toy shelves that don't hold toys, a dresser for clothes that don't seem to stay there, a hanging sweater thingy in her closet for puzzles and such but they don't seem to work either. What do I do to make it easier for her to "clean up" or stay at least a bit organized. If we go visit other peoples places their rooms always look perfect, or is it that they clean up in preparation of our arrival? I grew tired of trying to do that here and have succumbed to the mess. Why bother when after the playdate or visit, the room is back to pre guest state? I thought I was smart in moving some of the big things downstairs into the rec room so she could have a play area and keep her room somewhat clean but alas... that only extended the mess and made more space for her to "mess up." Who would have thought that she was easier to clean up after when she was three???

Let me add this: our sunroom/covered deck that holds our bar-b-q is right off of her room. Crazy, I know. That's just the way our house is. So now that it's summer we are in and out of her room in order to get out there all the time. It's a pretty sad affair when you can barely get the door open, let alone have a clear walking space to the sunroom door. So please don't just tell me to ignore it and close the door... impossible.

Does anyone have any suggestions, or would you care to share what works for you? I'd love to hear it!!!

I'm embarrassed to even post these:
(the sunroom door is behind the pink curtain, and she has a loft bed,
in case you were wondering)

iPad Giveaway

I've mentioned before about some giveaways that I've entered and some I've won and some I haven't. I have another one and it's is a biggy, it's for a 16GB iPad. Now who wouldn't want to win that? Selfishly I wouldn't want to share this information because if all of you enter, that would decrease my chances but alas I think this is something everyone is interested in unlike the cloth diaper giveaways I usually do. LOL So if you might, by any chance, want to win an iPad... hop on over to this girls blog, Mom to Bed By 8, follow her blog on Google Friend Connect, leave a comment stating why you'd like to win one, and voila! You've entered. You can do all the extra entry things as well if you want to increase your chances. You may think the chances are low, and maybe they are, but so far I've won 5 giveaways since Mack's been born. None as big as this, but not to shabby, I'd say!! :)

We have a tooth! and other big changes...

These are his 6 months pics because I'm kinda a couple weeks behind but that's okay.

7 Months has been quite the milestone for our Big Mack. Yesterday I noticed while he was eating his green beans, yup he likes green beans, that he had two little white spots on his bottom gums. The dots were connected and his fussyness of the day now had a reason. So today, while eating his carrots, a fav so far, I saw that one had indeed poked through. Yippee!! The other one right beside it is pretty close and will probably show up tomorrow or the next day. So sad to loose that gummy grin as my baby is growing up. :(

He's also staying awake longer during the day and we've worked out of one of the three naps he used to have. This is probably the biggest challenge for me, but I'm working on it. Getting used to it that is. As I mentioned before he's eating more foods now, along with those two I mentioned he's also eating squash, and sweet potatoes so far. I think I'm going to try to make some fruits soon to change things up, although I was just informed at his check up today from the public health nurse I can do meats now too. That's something that's changed since I last did this whole baby food thing.

We had his 6 month check up today, (just a tad late) and he's doing awesome! He's 20lbs now, and I feel every pound of that during the day, and he's in the 75% for height and weight. So he's all good, and hitting all his milestones accordingly. He got his needles today so between those and the teeth he's had a rough day. Here's hoping for a good nights sleep..... notice I said hoping!?!?!?

7 Months and it's Over!

I've been having an affair. No No, it's not how it sounds. My husband has known all about it since the very beginning. His ..er, her....er... it's name is... Medela. Okay okay so it's not a him or a her or even a real person. LOL But we definitely had a relationship, in the beginning we saw each other every three hours. It was a love hate kind of thing, I couldn't live without it, yet didn't much like the constant need for attention it had.

After a couple of weeks, I was able to break it of our gruelling schedule, and managed to keep the visits to every 6 hours. Eventually I was able to drop the middle of the night one which I dreaded in my sleep deprived state, and managed with things three times a day. This was our most comfortable routine for the longest time. Morning, mid afternoon and right before bed. Very nice.

In time though, a few things got in the way of that mid afternoon "coffee" we had going on, so it eventually became a bit of a pain too. Near the last month or so, I dropped that mid day one as well... we were nearing the end. Morning and night. After about 6.5 months I was growing tired of our relationship. It was a give and take kind of thing, but I must say it was wearing on me. So with much hesitation I decided to say goodbye to our morning time together. The first day, night time couldn't come fast enough. I was anxious for our visit, nearly in pain. But soon, it became comfortable as well and was comfortable again for the last few weeks.

Then life happened and I had to start things that I knew would jeopardize our relationship even more.... yup.... the Birth Control Pill. Sad, yet necessary, and Medela's results showed accordingly. So last night, was our last night. It was bitter sweet, and I have mixed feelings knowing we will never have this relationship again. A good thing, yet sad all at the same time. So I'm hoping I'll be okay tonight. I'll pack up my good friend for the last time and try to decide what to do with it now.

To my good friend Medela,

Thanks for the good times,
and the wonderful part you played in feeding my son!
We surpassed our goal, and for that I thank you!!
