Preschool Christmas Party

Daelyn had her first "performance" this week at her Preschool Christmas party/concert. She came home with a list of songs to practice, that her class and the 4 year old class were going to perform together. So we headed on down there not knowing what to expect and was surprised with all the parents and grandparents that had come out to watch. If I'd known, I may have told others about it, but instead Daelyn just had me. The sleigh ride we were supposed to start with was canceled because of the cold, and that was just fine. So when we got their the kids played a bit, then had opportunity to do cookie decorating, and coloring Christmas pictures. Then the concert started. She was ready, we had practiced her songs, and had no problems getting up on stage. Once she was up there though, the participation was lacking. LOL She did a few of the actions and sang some of the words but mostly just stood there gazing out into the crowd. Mind you, so did most of them! HAHA After their wonderful rendition of Jingle Bells, Twinkle Twinkle, Reindeer Pokey, and Here Comes Santa Clause, the big man in red made an appearance. Daelyn watched him walk by and instead of crowding around him like the other kids did, she stayed in her spot and yelled at him, "over here Santa!" LOL Luckily one of her friend''s came and got her and escorted her to see him up close. Once there she had no problem sitting on his lap and telling him what she wanted for Christmas. His departure marked the end of the party and after opening her gift, the book "Hurry Santa" we headed home. It was fun and we look forward to preschool starting again in the new year!

Well.... I quit.

I quit my position as the Elemental Scraps creative team leader, and the whole team for that matter. I have been at that site for over 2 years, and CT leader for over half of that time. The site was sold without warning and the new owner Angie Kovacs (who is making some great changes) has decided to really throw things up in the air. My position was increased in duties, to which I was already slacking on, so I felt it was time to retire and let someone else take over. I will definitly miss it there and I wish Angie and the site great success!! :) Also a big thanks to Joedee (the previous owner) for taking me on and keeping me around as long as she did, it was fun!

Skating, Cookies, and the stupid weather!

Ya ya, we live in Canada we should be used to it. But I never get used to the dissapointment of cancelled plans due to the winter weather. Blizzards, extreme low temps, slippery roads, blah blah blah it goes on and on. I've been trying to get to the city the last couple of days to get my Christmas picture developed so I can actaully get it sent out... but it doesn't seem like that's going to happen. So if you don't get one by Christmas, you'll know why. :(

The Hailster was crossing her fingers Sunday night that school would be canceled Monday morning, and sure enough it was. Too cold. So instead of heading off to the city like planned we bundled up and went to the new rink with Daelyn to try out her new skates. She was happy and mad it seemed all at the same time. Having fun but not, wanted to stay but had had enough. LOL She did well and was able to stand for quite a bit of the time, with a couple of rest periods here and there. Hayley is doing well with her new hockey skates and was whiping all over the place. It's been probably 5 years since I've had mine on and I sure do miss it. I need to get them sharpened and we can go again next week. It's really nice they have alotted time for preschool skating only, and a couple of her friends go regularily too.

You know that "picture face" they always had when they were toddlers? It comes back at 13! LOLOL

After a post skate meltdown, we came home had a snack, lunch, played some Wii, then made a couple of batches of cookies. The first was the ever popular Chocolate Chip cookies, only mint style this time. And the second batch were called Cranberry Noels. I saw them on a friends blog the other day and thought they looked really good. We had the ingredients so I thought, why not!?! They actually turned out okay, after I figured out wax paper does not do well in the oven!! Duh!

It's my first time making shortbread of any kind, but they turned out okay. :) If there is no school tomorrow Hayley wants to make the ones we can cut out and decorate, so we'll see.

Pink Eye, Scrapbook Layouts, and the Terrible teen's???

Yup, I have/had pink eye! Hayley's friend had it last week, and somehow or another without the girls having it, I caught it. Sunday morning I woke up to a bloodshot eye. It wasn't itchy or anything like that just red. Monday morning Daelyn had an appointment with the Dr about this spot of something on her head that looks a lot like cradle cap. SO after dealing with her and getting her meds for that (We saw the Dr. 6 weeks ago for it and after the ringworm meds not working we're trying some kind of corticosteroid for the week to see if it helps)I asked about my eye and he confirmed that it is indeed pink eye. I've been on the eye drops since Monday and it is clearing up to where today it's hardly noticeable. The kids and hubby have also been using the drops in hopes that they won't get it either.

So Elemental Scraps, my home scrapping site has been sold and we have a new owner. Grand Opening is going on right now and there are lots and lots of challenges to get your mojo going and prizes galore. You can even win your wishlist in the store by doing the most challenges. (I think that's it anyway) SO I've been getting a few pages done and it feels really good! :) Click on the image for credit information.

So part of me feels like we're getting out of the terrible 2's or 3's (part of me feels that way, LOL) and now we get to deal with the Terrible Teens! I guess the adjust ment period of coming home from the summer isn't going to end and this is what it is. The switch (I won't say what we really call it) has been flipped. Every day I utter a silent apology to my parents that I put them through this too. It's inevitable, I know, but that doesn't make it any better. AND it's likely going to get worse.... ok it is going to get worse. It's nice to know now that we are evil and unfair and just don't understand. Mom, Dad..... I'm sorry.
